Overview of the Scheme
Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI)
Description
The objectives of the scheme is to organize the traditional industries and artisans into clusters to make them competitive and provide support for their long term sustainability, sustained employment, to enhance marketability of products of such clusters,to equip traditional artisans of the associated clusters with the improved skills, to make provision for common facilities and improved tools and equipments for artisans,to strengthen the cluster governance systems with the active participation of the stakeholders, and to build up innovated and traditional skills, improved technologies, advanced processes, market intelligence and new models of public-private partnerships, so as to gradually replicate similar models of cluster-based regenerated traditional industries
Nature of Assistance
The total financial assistance is 2.50 crores for a regular cluster and Rs. 5.00 crore for a major cluster which is inclusive of Soft and Hard Interventions
Who can apply?
Non-Government organizations (NGOs), institutions of the Central and State Governments and semi-Government institutions, field functionaries of State and Central Govt., Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs), Private sector by forming cluster specific SPVs, Corporates and corporate Responsibillity (CSR) foundations with expertise to undertake cluster development.
Eligible Organization
Direct: Artisan guilds, cooperatives, consortiums, networks of enterprises, self-help groups (SHGs), enterprise associations,organisations directly engaged in traditional industries, institutions of the Central and State governments, Panchayati Raj institutions (PRIs), Private sector by forming cluster specific SPVs, Corporates and Corporate Responsibility (CSR) foundations and semi-government institutions with suitable expertise to undertake
Indirect: Artisans, workers, machinery makers, raw material providers, entrepreneurs, institutional and private business development service (BDS) providers engaged in traditional industries and working in selected clusters of khadi, coir and village industries, including leather and pottery.
Support for
Replacement of charkhas and looms in khadi sector, setting up of Common Facility Centres (CFCs), development of new products and designs, market promotion, capacity building (exposure visits, need-based training, support for establishment of cluster level networks) and other need based support.
Grant
75% for CFC, technology up- gradation, product development and 100% for capacity building, market development with component wise ceiling

Other Information
Khadi products are hand spun and hand woven cotton, woolen and silk varieties. Village Industries products include cottage pottery, lime, forest based industry, agro based and food processing, handmade papers, fibre products, honey, leather products, pottery, palngur & palm products, village oil, agarbatti, soap, matchsticks, gur and processes cereals & pulses, non-conventional energy, carpentry, embroidery, yarn dyeing etc.
